I participated in the 18 hour Mindfulness & Movement Certification with Laurie Ahlemann. It was a positive experience to reflect on my own practices as well as bringing strategies into my classroom. Taking this class has not only been beneficial for my students, it has been beneficial for me in my personal life as well. I learned different ways to cope with stressful situations, to calm down/ energize my body, and provide techniques for my students to do the same. I loved the physical aspect of the class with learning different yoga poses, and breathing techniques. I learned that being mindful is being fully present. I just finished my Mindfulness Educator Certification with Mindfulness Instructor Laurie Ahlemann. I am so thankful that I was provided with this opportunity by my school district. Going into this course, I was not sure what to expect but it far exceeded my expectations. I thought that I would just be learning ways to help my students to be mindful, however this course really focused on helping us (educators) to focus on ourselves and our practices first. After each session, I left feeling more informed but also excited for our next meeting. I am a speech, pathologist at Aquebogue, and I participated in the mindfulness workshop today. Thank you for being supportive and advocating for us! I am also a mum to a teenage pitcher, so I can relate to your feelings and the need for self-care. I truly enjoyed stepping away from the routine for a day to sit with colleagues and enjoy breathing and learning mindful habits. The benefits are still out to me, right hands levels of happiness, calmness, and boosted immunity. It was so meaningful to try some breathing techniques and to discuss with each other. How do you spell during and after these exercises. Group was honest and open and it was just refreshing to dig a Little deeper with fellow teachers. We don't realise how much stress we hold until we breathe, stretch and sit peacefully for a few minutes. Thank you so much for making this happen. Think Wellness has been my go to for not only yoga but for all types of stress relief practices and healthy habits.
